5 m² Nature

With only 1 Euro it is possible to transfer  5 m² of degerated land into a nature conservation area and protect the area.

The project area is in the North of Tanzania at the coast of Lake Eyasi. Akazia and Ilala palm trees form the natural vegetation cover. The form a habitat for more than 200 bird species, reptiles and insects.

The area is poor in rainfall. Overgrazing, intensive agriculture and use for fuel wood let to a large scale degradation of vegetation and soils. The project sets out to protect the land, reforest certain areas and re-establish the lost habitats. 

In the mid-term an area is created that will allow for recovering of the soil and the settlement of endangered species.  

The project is implemented by the non-profit organization „Lake Eyasi Trust Foundation“, Lake Eyasi.
